Scripture on Man |
|
"Man--Made in the Maker's Image" The creation of Man presented in Genesis chapters 1 and 2 is studied in depth. Scientific discoveries which support the statements made in the biblical account are presented. Special emphasis is given to the meaning of being created in the image of God. Major attributes of the nature of Man, the unique Image bearer, form a foundation for our understanding many of the dynamics of the Fall, the curses, and the tragic events of Cain and Abel. "The Curses--Tailor-made" In Genesis chapter 3 the temptations and motivations leading to Man's sin, and the effects of the Fall are presented. The resulting punishments and curses were crafted by God to achieve the maximum effect for each specific offender. Understanding the specific characteristics of each judgment teaches us a lot about the nature of Man, as well as the God-created differences between the sexes. "There Goes the Neighborhood" Genesis chapter 4 relates the tragic murder of Abel. This event in the history of Man has important spiritual and social implications. The actions of Cain are unedited illustrations of the sinful nature of fallen Man. His responses highlight the truth that Man needs much more than rehabilitation, he needs regeneration. "When It Rains It Pours" Studying the passages in Genesis about the Great Flood teaches us much about the judgment of God, and how Earth has come to be in its current condition. |
